Lunar Victory continued his torrid streak with his fifth consecutive win [VIDEO] this year Aug. 23 at Saratoga. The son of Speightstown, who won the Evan Shipman S. in his last start, is one of 14 stakes winners by his in 2012. Speightstown’s progeny earnings of $5.73 million ranks third on the North American General Sire list.
Lunar Victory captured the third-level allowance contest coming from third to get the lead in mid-stretch and draw off to win by 3 1/2-lengths. He covered the 1 1/8-miles in 1:48.23.
Trained by Bill Mott, Lunar Victory was bred in New York by William Parsons Jr. and David Howe. He is owned by Juddmonte Farms, who paid $350,000 for him at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale. With his latest win, Lunar Victory is 6-3-2 in 14 starts, earning $257,992.

Leading 3-year-old Bodemeister was diagnosed with an injury to his left shoulder, and upon deliberation among veterinarians and the owners, the decision was made for him to retire to stud at WinStar Farm. Bodemeister has begun treatment and a full recovery is expected in the coming months, but the 3-year-old son of Empire Maker would not have been able to return in time for major races at the end of 2012.
